Gen & Eric's Wedding

The Vernon family gathered together a couple weekends ago in Newport, Rhode Island to celebrate Gen Daftary (Steve's cousin) and Eric Tencer's wedding. We arrived in Newport late Friday night and after dinner with the family, met up with the wedding party at a Blues Club downtown.

On Saturday we spent the morning exploring more of lovely Newport, especially its famed "Cliffwalk" which allows normal, everyday people to traipse through the backyards of some of Newport's most incredible mansions. The trail runs right along the rocky coastline and gave us stunning views, as well as a chance to catch-up with Steve's family, some of whom we had not seen since Thanksgiving!

The wedding was held at the stunning grounds of the Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI. The skies completely cleared and a warm sun was shining at 5 pm when the ceremony began. Gen looked absolutely beautiful and the ceremony included the traditions of Gen's Indian and Eric's Jewish roots. An immaculate green lawn was the backdrop to this beautiful ceremony with the sea just beyond it. We enjoyed exploring the grounds a bit during the cocktail hour, including a bamboo forest. The wedding reception was in a huge tent on the property and included lots of good food and even better dancing!

Weddings are always such a good reason to get together with family and friends to celebrate love and the commitment of marriage. We're so happy for Gen & Eric and wish them all the best!

On Sunday, we joined the wedding party one more time for a bagel brunch and then explored downtown Newport for a couple hours before heading back home to Maine in the afternoon. The cherry trees were out in full force and Newport was bustling with tourists and shoppers out to enjoy a beautiful sunny day.
